DevOps Engineer
About the Role
We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our engineering team, operating confidently across infrastructure and operations on a healthcare imaging platform. This role owns environments, deployments, and production stability for systems handling clinical imaging data (DICOM/PACS, OHIF viewer, findings, file-sharing).
You'll work closely with senior engineers and reviewers, ship through a disciplined GitHub PR + Jira workflow, and be expected to close the loop between what's logged and what's delivered.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Ownership
- Own AWS infrastructure (EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, IAM) supporting production imaging services, including security and cost hygiene.
- Maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform), applying least-privilege and security-by-default practices.
- Manage deployments and environments end-to-end across services.
CI/CD & Reliability
- Own CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar), including quality gates, test automation, and rollback safety.
- Build and maintain monitoring/alerting so issues surface before they become incidents - not just reactive log-checking.
- Debug across DICOM/imaging data flows, infrastructure, and third-party integrations.
Feature & Data Support
- Design and implement infrastructure changes to support new features, with an eye toward scalability and data-handling requirements for clinical data.
Process & Accountability
- Participate in a real code review culture: PRs reviewed promptly, no work sitting idle for weeks.
- Keep Jira tickets and worklogs accurate and current - reported hours should match actual delivered output.
Requirements
- 2-4 years in a DevOps / infrastructure role.
- Production-level AWS experience (EC2, ECS, S3, RDS, IAM) - not just tutorial-level familiarity.
- Docker and containerized environments in a production context.
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline design and maintenance (GitHub Actions preferred).
- Terraform or comparable IaC used in a real production environment.
- Strong Linux and system-level debugging.
- Comfort working in a GitHub PR + Jira ticket workflow with evidence-based accountability (worklogs tied to actual code shipped).
- Baseline awareness of secure handling of sensitive/regulated data (encryption, access control, least privilege) - healthcare data experience a strong plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to DICOM/PACS or medical imaging systems (e.g. OHIF viewer, dicom-scp) - directly relevant to our stack.
- Message queues (SQS, RabbitMQ, Celery).
- Monitoring/observability tooling (CloudWatch, Grafana, Datadog).
- Networking fundamentals (VPC, security groups, routing).
- Prior experience in a HIPAA-adjacent or otherwise regulated environment.
- Some software development experience (e.g. Python/Django) - helpful for context and debugging, though this role does not take on development work.
What We Offer / Expectations
- Real ownership of systems and deployments.
- A culture that rewards proactivity: catching and fixing issues before they're escalated.
- Independent work with clear escalation paths when blocked.
- Market-competitive compensation
